By the time The Dillards went into the studio to cut their sixth album in late 1970, entitled Roots and Branches, a change in the weather was afoot. Led by Mitch Jayne, Dean Webb, and Rodney Dillard, the band had exited their longtime record label [Elektra] for the second and final time, landing on the independent Anthem Records.
